Ross’s journey into woodworking began at 18, when he studied Art & Design at Ravensbourne College before continuing at Leeds Metropolitan University, specialising in Furniture Design. His dedication to craftsmanship earned him two prestigious scholarship offers: one at the Chippendale School of Furniture in Edinburgh, and another at Buckinghamshire University’s renowned MA Furniture Design course.

After more than a decade working in the business sector, Ross chose to follow his true passion—founding East Sussex Carpentry, his own carpentry and joinery business. As the owner and founder, Ross brings together traditional woodworking techniques and modern design to deliver bespoke projects tailored to each client. To strengthen his expertise, he achieved a City & Guilds qualification in Site Carpentry, graduating with Distinction.

Alongside his bespoke carpentry, Ross has developed specialist skills as a restorative joiner, breathing new life into historic and well-loved pieces. His ability to combine restoration with design has established him as a trusted craftsman, respected by colleagues and clients alike.

Today, Ross leads East Sussex Carpentry with a reputation built on quality, creativity, and integrity. His work reflects a lifelong passion for woodwork and design, and a dedication to preserving craftsmanship while creating pieces that stand the test of time.
PERSONAl APPROACH
Our Mission
At East Sussex Carpentry, our mission is to deliver honest, reliable, and professional carpentry and joinery services. As an established family-run business, we have built strong foundations that have earned us trust within the industry and enabled us to form lasting relationships with clients, suppliers, and fellow businesses.
Drawing on over a decade of corporate experience, founder Ross brings valuable business acumen and customer insight to ensure the company consistently goes the extra mile. Clear communication sits at the heart of our approach, guiding each project to completion on time and within budget.

We specialise in grade-listed property projects and have developed recognised expertise in period woodwork, ensuring that every restoration and design respects the character and integrity of historic buildings. Supporting our heritage culture is a core value of our business, and we take pride in preserving traditional craftsmanship while integrating modern solutions where appropriate.

To support our clients, we provide computer-aided design (CAD) visuals tailored to bespoke joinery builds—such as custom storage solutions and built-in furniture—helping clients visualise the final product and set clear expectations. At the same time, we value personal interaction, whether through face-to-face meetings, site visits, or video consultations designed to fit around busy schedules.

Though we are a small family-run company, we operate with the professionalism and efficiency of a larger organisation. This balance of personal service and corporate-level standards is why our clients continue to return to us, confident in the quality and care we provide.
East Sussex Carpentry operate with all the necessary trade insurance and public liability cover.
